Is ratfish liver oil the same as skate oil?

Some dis-informed people deliberately claim that the skate fish is related to the same fish species as the ratfish (Chimaera monstrosa Linnaeus, 1758). The only similarity between the two is that they are both cartilaginous fishes. Some are even claiming that the skate fish is the same fish under a different name. Any marine zoologist would tell you that this is absurd!

Rosita Ratfish Oil® (which includes its brand “Rosita Real Foods”) are the only official producers of authentic artisan extra-virgin fish liver oils. Our extra-virgin oils have no similarities whatsoever to the processed or so-called fermented products out there. Our oils are genuine Norwegian, obtained from fish that we ourselves sustainably harvest from the remote wild, and extract using the rare methods and craftsmanship employed by the ancient Norse people. They are “living oils” derived from beautiful fresh livers with all their naturally occurring nutrients intact. Everything we do is done with respect to the practices of our ancient ancestors.
